Little Squirrels Newsletter September – October

We have had such a fantastic first two months at Little Squirrels this year. We have been very busy getting to know each other, and finding out each other’s personalities, both students and teachers.

We are so grateful to Aaron’s dad Allan, who made our new ellipse shape on the floor in our classroom, which is wonderful and we use this for our morning Circle Time and story time after snack.

We have been working through our Practical Life and Sensorial Materials, which everyone is now showing confidence in.

The children are loving having Anna from High 5 Sports come every Tuesday, they are all thoroughly engaged in the activities and are improving every week.

We have been talking about all things autumn too, the farmer, bird migration and autumnal fruit and vegetables.

We made soup and brown bread, which went down an absolute treat with the children.

We made our personal placemats for snack time, with each child’s name on them, the   children are now recognising each other’s names not only their own. These mats are given out each day for snack, by different children each day, according to our ‘Helping Hands’ jobs chart.

We made fruit salad, which the children enjoyed after snack with some ice cream.

The children have started work on their phonic sounds and their numbers.

We planted our Cress seeds, which started to grow after a few days and the children brought home.

We also planted bulbs in the front garden, Snowdrops and Bluebells, which we look forward to seeing in bloom in the springtime.

We had lots of fun getting our Halloween artwork ready, and a great Halloween party in fancy dress, with games and Halloween treats.

Happy Halloween!!!!
